JAMES MORRISON, GENERAL MANAGER
Born in Manhattan, James grew up in the city knowing that hospitality would eventually be the cornerstone of his career. Many of his earliest memories involved sitting around a large dinner table conversing with guests at parties hosted by his parents, both of which were trained in the kitchen. Such dinner parties and modern meals helped to cultivate his palate and also help to train James on being a gracious host.
After graduating from college with a degree in psychology, James knew his passion centered on hospitality and, with the encouragement of his family, James began taking cooking classes. Soon after, he worked as a server at Provence and Morrell Wine Bar & Café. Excelling at serving managerial skills, James was offered the positin as floor manager at Brasserie Ruhlmann with executive chef Laurent Tourondel. It was here that his managerial skills were honed and his love for wine began to cultivate. James constantly studied and absorbed any information that his mentors were willing to pass on. Two years later, James became the wine manager for Trattoria Dell’Arte and shortly after, relocated to Allegretti, where he continued to share his passion for wine and hospitality. I need of a change of pace, James moved to London to experience hospitality and life in the UK. Soon after his stay in London, James was asked to help open Artisan in Southport, CT. After the successful open of Artisan, James’ reuninted with Chef Allegretti at La Promenade des Anglais and is currently the general manager, bringing his love for hospitality, wine and food to the La Promenade family.
